Dilwalo ki Delhi- A Delhi Life

Delhi is a city that bridges two different worlds. Old Delhi, was once the capital, in contrast, the imperial city of New Delhi created by the British Raj is composed of spacious, tree-lined avenues. Delhi has been the seat of power for several rulers and many empires for about a millennium.

Delhi, as said "Dilwalo ki Nagari" is very true. No adjective can better describe Delhi as "Jindadil"- always proactive, enthusiastic, full of life, creative, Ready. I resided in Delhi for very less time period and I think that was not the enough to describe Delhi properly but I must say this duration was enough for me to get the insights. Even today, when I come to Delhi, I strongly feel associated to this city.

1) The one of the most amazing thing I like about Delhi, is She welcomes everyone with the same affection and love. Although Delhi hurts herself several times for this unconditional love and trust. There is non ending list of such stories, recent terrorist attack on Parliament, is one of the most worst attack to the peace loving city and democracy of India.

2) Home for foodies: You are a resident of Delhi or a frequent visitor, but I am sure, you have not visited all the famous food places, stalls, restaurants in Delhi. A long list of Delhi restaurants with non-ending list menu list and their mouth watering specialties will make you crazy. May be you are tasting Pani-Puri road side or attending conference in reputed restaurant in Delhi, you’ll enjoy every bite.

3) A great history: Delhi also known for her great history and her survivability after the attacks of intruders. Delhi is the mother of several patriots and has witnessed several historic events. During the Indian Independence, it was the center of all the activities and after Independence, Delhi was built as the Capital of India. It’s a Political capital of India as well.

3) A cultured and self-disciplined city: I know Delhi as one of the cultured and self-disciplined city, although some of the incidents disgraced her glory.

4) A place or opportunities: I witnessed Delhi as a place for opportunities and destination for struggles. Delhi is like a huge tree, which has sheltered everyone who comes.

5) Delhi, a first choice for Tourists: Delhi is the most beautiful city in my eyes, Not only Indians feel, the tourists also wish visiting Delhi once. There are several places of interest for tourists like:

The Red Fort
Rajghat
Puarana Qila
Humayun's Tomb
Qutab Minar
Parliament House
India Gate
Jamma Masjid
Bahai's House Of Worship
Jantar Mantar
Rashtrapati Bhavan
Safdurjung's Tomb

Many a times the city was built, destroyed and then rebuilt here. Interestingly, a number of Delhi's rulers played a dual role, first as destroyers and then as creators. That is the reason; several poets have dedicated their poems to Delhi. Delhi also can be well described with the names:

Kuch Baat Hai Ki Hasti Mitti Nahin Hamari
Sadio se Dushman Raha hai, dushman dore jamana
